Deepavali and  Diwali is a Hindu festival. It is a spiritual and spiritual way to remove the darkness and ignorance of mind and mind control. Diwali is a festival of joy and happiness. Removing darkness, we accept the light. Light is the symbol of knowledge and wisdom. Without light, we cannot achieve our goal. Light is the symbol of truth also. Darkness means sin and darkness of mind means lack of wisdom. Hinduism asked to remove the darkness and ignorance of the mind. By removing darkness and ignorance we can attain self-control and self-consciousness. Discover the world of knowledge and wisdom.  India celebrates the day socially and family-wise. People enjoy the day sacredly. Somewhere it is called Deepavali, Somewhere, it is called Diwali.   

 5 days of the  Light Festival :

 Dhanteras and Dhanteras:

 Dhanteras is the first day of Diwali. Dhan means wealth. We celebrate the day by paying tribute to Goddess  Lakshmi. Lakshmi is the Goddess of wealth. The day is also called a Dhanvantari Tridosi  It is in fact the thirteenth lunar day of Krishna Prakash, the dark fortnight of the month of Kartik.

 The day is also Dhanvantari's birthday. The followers of Ayurveda worshipped Him on the auspicious day. On this day, the  Lord Dhanwatari came out of the ocean with the science of Ayurveda for mankind.  Hindus bathed and offered lighted diya to Yama Raj on this auspicious day. Yamaraj is the king of death. They pray to Yamraj to protect them from untimely death.

The first day of Deepavali and Deepavali is named Yamadeepaban. The day is associated with the king of death. Yama is the king of death. The sixteen-year-old son of Hima is destined to die on this day. However, the devotion of his wife impressed the king of death and he returned without taking the prince's life. 

 On this day people lit earthen lamps for ancestors of the family and also floated lamps in the river canals and ponds. They lit the house with diya, lamp and candle. They offer Yama, rice, water, Jaggery, Vermolin and flowers. The day is also called Behula Trayodasi. Every house celebrates the day by buying gold, silver and utensils. On this day they wash coins in milk and water to celebrate the puja Goddess Lakshmi for wealth.  This day falls within the Aswin and Kartick.

On the first day of Deepavali, lord Rama returned to Ayodhya being victorious over Ravana. He returned to Ayodhya with his wife and team. People celebrate the day as the return of Lord Rama.

In rural areas, the days are celebrated by the farmer as a festival day of the farmer. It is a festival of harvest. People follow the day with joy and a festive mood. 

 According to Mahabharata, the day is the day of the return of Pandava from exile. 

 Chotti Diwali  and chotti deepavali  :

 The second day is the Chotti Diwali's day. The second day is the Naraka Chhutordasi. On this day, Shri Krishna killed Narakasur. Narakasur was a demon. He had forcefully captured sixteen thousand women from different areas. He lived in Pragjotishpur. Shrikrishna killed him and rescued the woman. The world becomes free from fear.  

 This day is also popularly named Roop Chatturdashi. In this people bathe and go on meditation to enhance their beauty. In connection with this, the day is called in the name of Kali Choturdasi. People apply kajal in their eyes. It means the eye did not see any evil thing. There is a restriction also. In Chotti Deepavali we can't light Yama Diya In Andhra Pradesh, it is called Divvela Panduga. At the end of this day, people take a bath massaging oils accompanied by the firecrackers.

 Puja is a ritual to pay tribute to God. The third day is the day of the actual  Deepavali dedicated to the Goddess, consort of Lord Visnu, to receive blessings of wealth, prosperity, triumph of good over evil, and light over darkness. 

 For Jains, the day is Deva Deepavali. On this day, homes are beautifully lit. The scriptures are read to worship Mahavir.  Kashmiri Hindus celebrated the day as happiness. The day is known to him as a Suskhapitika. In Gujrat, it is named Badhusar. People believe on the day Goddess Lakshmi  Visits all homes they are brightly lit it.  In some south Indian states, it is named Balindra Puja.   On the day, puja is offered to lord Krishna. To the Sikh, the day is known as  Bandi Chhor Divas. This day is followed as a day of freedom by the Sikhs. Sindis celebrate Diwali as Diwari .  They too Perform  Lakshmi Puja on this day.

Padwa And Govardhan Puja:

 The fourth day of Deepavali is celebrated as the beginning of the new year. Most Hindus are called Bestavarsha. Lord Krishna is named as Govardhan. He saved the farmer from Indra's anger. Indra is the king of Heaven. 

 On the day Karnataka Performed the day as a Bali Pratipada. Bali was a Demon King killed by  Vamanavatar. It is believed that Bali visits the earth.  It is the day of husband and wife. No money transaction takes place on this day. 

Bhatri Dwitiya : Bhai Foota : Bhai Duj .

On this day, the sister protects her brother from untimely death.   Bhai or Bhatri means Brother. The "foot "means the sacred dot of the sandal powder on Brothers Cheek. In Bengal, the sisters celebrate the day by chanting Mantra to protect their brothers. The Sister offers food and clothes to the brothers.  Sister prays to God for her brother's well-being and wellness. 

 Durba ( Grass ), Turmeric, Paddy, Flowers, Sandal powder and Jute leaves are used to protect brothers. Children become delighted.

 This is also called Bhai Teeka. In Bengal, the day is called as Bhatri Diwtya. 

Indian culture has unique variants. It changes from locality to locality containing the main theme. 

Where is the biggest Diwali celebration outside India? 

Now Diwali is a universal festival. White House to ordinary people celebrate the day. Indian and Non-Indian both celebrate the day. Spiritual and spirituality are embedded in this celebration. 

It is an official holiday in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Mauritius, Guyana, Trinidad, Tobago, Suriname,   Malaysia, Singapore and Fiji. Iskon and his followers celebrate the Diwali in most parts of the world. 

In daily life, we are ignoring our family life. This lightening day increases the level of family connectivity and family wellness.  People pray for social wellness and well-being.
