RSS Hindu Organisation / Organic Hindu Organisation
✒RSS and RSS translate Swami Vivekananda's vision into action. Swami Vivekananda once told his fellow monk that a Hindu organisation needed to be formed centring around the mid-centre of the country.
Swami Vivekanand
It would be formed with the sense, ideology and philosophy of the country. Doctorji formed RSS in the mid-city of India, i.e. Nagpur. Swami Vivekananda said to us that physical fitness is the early condition of doing work. Doctorji gave importance to physical fitness. Sangh Shakas provides exercise and discipline to Swyamsevak.
Rabindranath Tagore
He also considered Rabindranath Tagore's dictum:" Till to achieve solid something, let us remain anonymous: let us be in in the background and away of from limelight ". Doctorji had taken Tagore's analysis by heart:" But the mental composition of our people is not suited to such withdrawal. They do not pursue even the elementary day-to-day tasks ( which deserve no attention,) to their successful conclusion, but work with one eye on loud and vulgar publicity. Doctorji therefore concentrated on the transformation of the hearts of people and kept the character-forming activity of the Sangh away from the glare of publicity and propaganda. Doctorji asked the Swayamsevak to start with the small God things in the Shakha. Shakha started with small God things that silently changed the lifestyle. Swayamsevak sacrificed all things for the country and Hindu Society. It is a total surrender to Gariek Dawaj. Understand RSS !You must know Doctorji , the both are inseparable.

RSS, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is a very well-known organisation. Decades ago, the BBC announced that it is the most widespread and biggest nongovernmental Voluntary organisation working in India for a Hindu consolidation. Since then RSS has grown and spread in multiple proportions. But still, very few, outside Sangh Circles, know about the mighty organisation, Dr Keshavrao Balirampanth Hedgewar, Popularly known as" Doctoji". Doctorji worked out an organised plan to unify the Hindu society. Unique suggestions are accepted by Doctorji in forming the Hindu organisation.
Three Sarsanghchalak

Dr Hedgewar was a born patriot, and this instinctive patriotism burst forth at the early age of eight when he threw away the sweets distributed to the school children on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of British Queen Victoria. There are many such occasions which reflect how he grew up manifesting his patriotic nature. He intensely felt that our motherland must be freed from the foreign yoke at any cost and so worked zealously to achieve it by working with revolutionaries., the Indian National Congress and the Hindu Maha Sabha. His involvement in whatever activity he was associated with was totally selfless and dedicated.
Savarkar ,Netaji and Doctorji

It was not charmed by influence and longing for fame, name, wealth and woman. He went to Calcutta to pursue a medical degree only to learn about working with the freedom fighters in the capital in the capital of British Raj at that time. After getting his medical degree he did not practice even for a day, even though he lived a life of poverty and went through extremely harsh financial conditions for a long. Throughout his life, he desires only to live for the country and works for its good. After returning from Calcutta, he worked at Nagpur and nearby areas and rose up to the position of joint general secretary of the Provincial Congress in 1922. he was a very powerful speaker; his burning words attracted and inspired the youth for which he had to face the charge of sedition and was dragged to the court, where he vigorously defended himself. The presiding Judge exclaimed " His defense arguments Dr. Hedgewar followed it up with a brief speech.
Vivekanand,Ramkrishna and Doctorji

For short of space, only a few sentences of that speech are quoted here speech is quoted here in India. .. " India belongs to Indians; we, therefore, demand independence "
I am asking you to counsel the government on this simple question, is it not against natural justice. If it is true that a country has a right to rule over another country. Who gave the British the authority to trample the people of India under their feet? Is it not a blatant murder of justice, morality and dharma? We demand nothing short of complete independence till we achieve it we cannot be at peace ".
Saffron Flag

The judge pronounced one year of rigorous imprisonment for him. After one year when he was released prominent leaders including Motilal Neheru were there to receive him.
The founder of RSS, Doctorji, was associated with several social organisations. he noticed pronounced indiscipline among workers at every level in both political and social organisations.. To counter this he tried to organise a disciplined volunteer corps as part of the congress. Some people did not like it and this experiment did not give the expected results. Selfishness was rampant and ideologically also he was dissatisfied with the Congress policy of appeasement of Muslims.
Assemble of Swayamsevak

He devolved deep into all these experiences to find answers to certain basic questions; over these years of fraternisation, have the Muslims ever responded positively to any of our gestures? Have they developed any warmth toward Hindu society? Have they exhibited the slightest willingness to join us praying in and paying homage to Bharat Mata? How is it that Muslims are so fearlessly attacking the Hindus? And why Hindus, who constitute the majority, are not able to protect themselves. is not that a matter of shame? Why is this so?
Hedgewar had by this time realised that the lack of cohesion and self-respect among the Hindus was the chief melon's only lasting solution of which was to mould the Hindu consciousness into one of self-respect unity and courage.. More than the external threat of Muslims or the British. it was the curse of internal dissension and indiscipline eating, into the vitals of the of Hindu society, which worried him the most.
Camp Tent

In the atmosphere that prevailed in 1925, quite a few of the national leaders keenly felt the need to organise the Hindus. Some others, even doubted Doctors' efforts as Communal Childish etc however Doctorji remained cool and unruffled. He had firm faith in the worthiness of the mission he had conceived after he had studiously analysed the happenings during those days. His mind was engrossed in searching for answers to deeper questions. What is the true nature of our nation:
What freedom are we actually fighting for? What are its traits? And again what is the root cause of our national downfall and slavery?
Dr. Hedgewar delved deep into past history and recognised basic truth. Ours is an ancient nation, it came long before other nations of the world appeared. When most of the modern nations of the West were not out of the jungles, and the world had not even heard of Jesus or Mohammad our country was universally revered for its achievements in every sphere of life. science, arts, commerce philosophy and spirituality . . And all of this was made possible by the endless efforts and sacrifices of the original residents, popularly known as Hindu people.
All the great father figures of the national Renaissance had drunk from this fount of Hindu nations and fought both Muslim and British invaders. Whether it was Rana Pratap or Shivaji Vidyaranya or Guru Govinda Singh, Vivekananda and or Arbinda. , Tilak or Ghandhi. all of them spoke on the same strain, invoking the sane Hindu innate spirit and rousing the people into action.
Doctor Hedgewar concluded that if this prolonged attack of the British domination and Muslim separation had to be met, the only effective course was to awaken and organise the Hindu people. and to fill them with the spirit of nationalism. , for he felt it is on the bedrock of such national strength that the British power could be humbled and the Muslims made to realise that their interests are better served by merging into the national mainstream. It is the realisation of this basic fact of our national life that formed t the ideological base of RSS by Dr Hedgewar.
The mission of the Sangh was therefore to be one of recharging our people with the true spirit of national character and cohesion. All the social evils, like caste, untouchability, etc. which disrupted and devitalised our nation during the last several centuries should be eradicated and the sublime and life-sustaining values of our national culture had to be cultivated. This was not to be limited to any particular caste or class, sex or creed, province or political party. Based on these principles, the doctor thought he should first build up a devoted and sincere band of intelligent workers and train them to rouse the indifferent Hindu Society.
Doctorji deeply thought about how and what should be the practical method through which such groups of workers sincere and devoted could be trained? After a few experimentations and careful and intense pondering, he hit upon the novel plan: this idea was that the persons of one locality or area forgetting their castes or status differences should meet at one particular place and time regularly, without fail. During that one-hour, simple programme which would impact discipline and train the body, mind and intellect in an atmosphere of mutual love, affection and trust, without giving any room for differences, enthusiastic games and physical exercise, patriotic songs are sung in chorus, small talks about the national heroes and other great men of our country and a common prayer in the last ending with "Bharatmata ki Jai" should be conducted. This one group meeting was to be called "Shakas ", and each person participating was to be called " a Swayamsevak ", a self-motivated, self-reliant and selfless servant of the society. Such Shakas should gradually cover every area of every town, City and village throughout the country. Shakha should begin with the hoisting of the Bhagwa Dhwaj after the salutation.
It was not an easy task to make everyone meet daily at a particular place and time for a cause, without getting anything in return personally. But Dr Hedgewar was determined and visited the house of the Swayamsevak every day in their leisure time. sit with them, and spend some time affectionate and informally. His affection, sincerity, and patriotism were all so transparent that he would influence everyone to follow him with full faith.
In the evening again he would go to every house and take them to the Shakha. This made the Shaka gathering a success and Swayamsevaks started attending shakas daily with great enthusiasm. Dr . Hedgewar closely observed every person and monitored their developments. He gave special attention to young people in the age group of 15 to 18 and personally took pains to imbue them with ideological conviction along with training them to conduct shakas by themselves.
The living model provided the necessary vision inspiration and guidance to the Swayamsevaks to mould them however remained the life of Hedgewar himself. He earnestly and meticulously worked on an image as a shining embodiment of the mission he had he had initiated through the Sangh by overcoming all of his shortcomings. He tried hard to reform himself from a pure agitator and fighter into a silent, patient and calm nation builder by casting away his inherited and inborn nature of hot temper to a set affectionate and loving nature Another most important aspect he had mastered was the quality of maintaining a personnel contract, informal and living communication with everyone. this personal touch endeared him to every person. Dr .Hedgewar had innovated a system of special training classes to train and develop ordinary Swayamsevak into devoted and efficient, effective workers, These Swayamsevaks into devoted and efficient effective workers. These Swayam Sevaks into devoted and efficient effective workers. These Swayamsevak are responsible for the growth of the Sangh and its allied activities, spread in every district of this vast country from the Himalayas to Kanyakumari.
Swayamsevaks moulded as instruments of transformation have by and large proved successful in whatever field they have entered and are working adamantly for all rounds of national regeneration.

Is Modi a RSS Pracharak ?
Modi is now only a Swayamsevak. A Pracharak of a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh cannot maintain a Bank Account and properties in his name. Modi is now an M.P. He has to keep this.
Who is the Pracharak?
Those who leave the house for the cause of Sangh are the Pracharak. They work for the Hindu society and live for the Sangh. They are the organisational axis of the Sangh. But Sangh does not think they are all. Grihi Karjakarta has a greater role in Sangh. Without giving importance to Grihi Karjya Karta Sangh cannot spread in the society.
Does Rss belong to Bjp?
RSS is a socio-cultural organisation formed to reconstruct Hindu nationalism. Every day the Swayamsevak prays to God to make Bharat Biswaguru.
Swayamsevaks set up a goal to return to the glory of the nation.
The way how to achieve the Goal is by protecting Dharma.
In what method did they follow to attain the goal of BJP?
The answer is by organising the Hindu Society
But BJP is a Political party. It has a political goal. Once Shyamaprasad Mukherjee wanted a few young men for Janasangh Guruji. The second Sarasanghchalak allowed 6 Swayamsevaks to join Janasangh. Janasangh was the early organisation of the BJP. Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Din Dayal Upadhya, Sundarlal Bhandari and Lal Krishna Advani were they.
In that context, nobody belongs to anybody. There is an inspirational relationship between the two. Goal and organizational behaviour and culture are also different.

Key Activities Of RSS :
Principle: RSS would not do anything but Swayamsevak would do everything.
1. Formation of thousands of organisation named as Vivida Khestra. Fields are economic, Education, Labour union, Students, Tribal development, Cultural and intellectual organisation etc.

Smart Mapping of Great Work Of RSS: Great Swami Vivekananda Rock Memorial :
Kanyakumari: Swami Vivekanand Rock was occupied by the Church. The surrounding people of the Rock were converted to Christianity.Recapture of the Rock was a difficult task.
Giving importance to that, Eknath Ranade, Sara Karjya Baha of the RSS was appointed for the project. However, the Prime Minister of India and Humayun Kabir, the Education Minister were dead against the recapture of the Vivekananda Memorial by the Hindu Society. Above all the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu was a Christian. All those people were opposing this.
Eknath Ranade met all those people including all M.P. and big personalities. Started a campaign to mobilise the people. People paid one rupee each. At last, the Rock was recaptured by Hindus.
Ram Mandir Movement was a great work of Hindu civilisation. RSS started the movement and completed it.
Namami Gange, Ekamata Yagna, the Ban on Cow Slaughtering, Ram Setu Movement were the greatest mass movements to awaken Hindu society. These were not-so-easy tasks. So many Swayamsevak laid down their lives.
How does RSS meet the Financial Problem?
RSS does not take any donations and subscriptions from people. In the early days beginning, RSS raised funds from people by subscription and donation. After a few months, the Swayamsevak became frustrated. Because people are not interested in paying subscriptions and donations regularly.
On the Guru Pujan day, Doctorji came with a Garik Dwaj and said to them that Garik Dwaj would be watch as our Guru. We will surrender to him and pay our Samarpan money to him. It has a great aspect. One, a guru would be an impersonal entity. Nobody can ever criticise Sangh Guru. Everybody thought that Doctorji would be Guru but it did not happen. Second, Swayamsevak would meet the financial problem. On the beginning day of Guru Pujan, Swayamsevak made a Samarpan of 84 rupees. It is called Guru Dhakisina, sacred money.

3. Game Dimension: Indigenous meaning full games are accepted In shaka, For example, Kabadi has a rebirth system which is linked with Hindu life.
4. Prayers for 5 minutes.
How does Shakha Change our life?
Every day, we wash our eating plates but we do not do anything for our health and Character. Shakha is a washing place of character. It is not a theory but practically we have seen how Swayam Sevak left the house for the country and society.

How did RSS participate in the independence war?
Doctorji was a born patriot. In school life, he was expelled from the Neil City School due to giving a slogan of Bande Mataram. He appeared in the entrance examination from Bidyagriha School established by Rasbihari Gosh at Pune. Rasbihari Ghosh with the help of Rishi Arbinda established these schools for those students who were expelled from the general school due to participating in the freedom struggle. He was in touch with the Bala Gangadhar Tilak in his boyhood.
With the help of a wellwisher, he came to Kolkata to be a Doctor. But then Kolkata was the heaven of revolutionary organizations. He came to Kolkata intending to learn about the revolutionary movement. He began to work with Shyamsundar Chakraborty who was a revolutionary. He became known to Nalini Sen Gupta. Nalini Sen Gupta was a member of the Anusilan Samiti, a great revolutionary. Nalini wrote an article on him after the independence. Once Rasbihari Bose came to "Santiniketon Lodge " to meet him. Doctorji Joined Anusilon Samiti with a code name, i.e., Cococein. He could not meet Pulin Bihari Ghosh because at that time he was in jail under a conspiracy workout by the British Government with the help of Nawab Salimullaha, i. e ,Nawab of Dhaka. Trailaikya Nath Maharaj printed a picture ( Group Photo of revolutionaries of Anusilian Samiti ) in his famous book, "Thirty Years in Jail " in which Doctorji was present.
After returning to Maharastra he organised a revolutionary organization and collected arms to start a revolution against the British Government. In his leadership, the revolutionary looted a British arm depo.
Mahatma Gandhi: Rashtriya SwayamSevak Sangh,
Mahatma Gandhi visited the RSS camp in the year 1934. Gandhiji visited the Wardha Camp Of RSS. Gandhiji was camping at the Sebagram Gram Ashram near Wardha. The Sangh camp was right opposite that house. near about 1500 Swayam Sevak Attended the camp. Gandhiji had seen the preparations for setting up the camp. He also observed the camp activities from his residence and felt like seeing the camp from close quarters. He spoke to Mahadev Dishi who in turn wrote to Appa Ji Joshi Appajhi Joshi immediately went and met Gandhiji and invited him:" Please do come whenever it is convenient for you you will be most welcome".
Mahama Gandhi wrote in a slip that he would visit the camp at 6 A.M the next morning and spend one and a half hours there. On that day Mahatma Gandhi was observing the silent day.
The next morning Ghadhiji came with Mirabehn, Mahadev Desai and a few others. All the Swayam Sevak offered him" Pranam "to him. After seeing the Camp, he became impressed. Gandhiji Patted Appajis back and said that he had never witnessed such a sight anywhere in the country.
For inspection purposes, he entered the kitchen. He observed all are well managed and food is prepared for 1500 people without confusion. He learned that every trainer had given one rupee each and some food grain. If any deficit was there Swayamsevak would pay the deficit. Gandhiji became satisfied and astonished.
He again visited the tent and observed that all Swayamsevak had forgotten their caste. Forgetting their caste, they were eating, lying and playing all together. Mahatma asked them to realise their caste and all Swayamsevak answered in the same line that they were Hindus. There are no differences between Bhrammin, Maratha, Asprishyas etc in the Sangh. Listening to the answers to his questions, Gandhi was satisfied.
Ghandhji asked Appaji," It appears almost impossible to ward off of the of untouchability from our society. How has this phenomenon been made possible in the Sangh? "
Appaji replied, " Feeling of high and low, untouchability and untouchability can be abolished only by emphasizing the inherent oneness in Hindus. Then only will the spirit of fraternity be reflected in their sincere behaviour, and not merely in words. The credit for this achievement goes to Dr. Keshavrao Hedgewar."
It was the time for a general assembly in the camp. The bugle was sounded. All Swayamsevaks stood up. Garik Dhwaj was hoisted. Gandhiji participated in the Prayers. Gandhiji was a Master organiser. He investigates all things. Ghandjiji expressed his desire to meet Keshab Boliram Hedgear.
Appaji Josi told him that Keshab Boliram Headgewar would come tomorrow to visit the Camp.
Ghandhiji And Dr. Keshab Boliram Hedgewar
The next morning Keshab Boliram Hedgear came to the Camp.
Attending all of his specified programmes in the camp, he met Gandhiji.
After a preliminary exchange of courtesies, Gandhiji and Gandhiji turned to a point uppermost in his mind :
Doctorji, your organisation is admirable. I am aware of the fact that you were for many years a congress worker. That being so why did you not build such a volunteer cadre under the aegis of a popular organisation like the congress itself? Why did you float a separate organisation ?.
Doctorji said," It is true that I have worked in the congress. I was also the Secretary of the Swayam Sevak Dal at the time of the 1920 session of the congress when my friend Dr. Paranjape was the Dal President. Subsequently, the two of us tried to build up such an organisation. But our efforts were not successful. Hence the independent Venture ".
Mahatma Gandhi, " Why did your attempt fail? Was it for financial assistance?
Doctorji," No No! There was no dearth of funds. Money can be a great help. , No Doubt. But money cannot accomplish everything. The problem that faced us was not money but attitudes ."
Mahatma Gandhi, Is it in your opinion that noble-hearted people were not there in Congress, or are they not there now?
This is not what I meant. There are so many well-meaning people in Congress. What is the issue of certain basic attitudes? The Congress was founded primarily to achieve political ends. ........... The Congress leaders are therefore used to looking upon volunteers as unpaid servants who arrange chairs and benches during meetings and conferences. The congress does not believe that the nation's problems can effectively be resolved only when there is a large and disciplined body of dedicated Swayamsevaks who are eager to serve the country of their own accord and without waiting for inspiration from elsewhere."
Mahatma, ' What is the conception of a Swayamsevak?
A Swayamsevak is one who would lovingly lay down his life for the all-round upliftment of the nation. To create and mould such Swayamsevaks is the aim of the Sangh. There is no distinction between a Swayamsevak and a leader in Sangh. All of us are Swayamsevaks and are therefore equal. We love and respect everybody equally. We give no room for any difference in Status. This is in fact the secret of the remarkable growth of the sangh in such a short period without outside help money or the public".
Mahatma, I am indeed very glad. the country will certainly benefit by your efforts. I have heard of the vast following Sangh has acquired in the Wardha district.
Mahama again, How do you meet the the expenses of such a huge organisation?
The Swayamsevak themselves bear the burden, each offering his mite as Guru Daskhina. "
The meeting was extended more but these were personal enquiries. Doctorji said to him that he was never practiced but his time is dedicated to Sangh. Above all his patient was the country and treated the nation to build up a character .
.
Shyamaprasad Mukherjee and Doctorji :
In May 1940, Dr Shyamaprasad Mukherjee called on Dr Headgewar with an appeal from Bengal. Then sick, with an appeal from Bengal. Hindu properties were being looted they are being looted, their women molested by Muslim ruffians. The condition of the windows was most pitiable. Dr Headgewar suggested that organisation and an intense feeling of oneness were the only answers.
Doctorji answered, "Whether it is in Punjab or Bengal or any other province the chief cause for the pitiable of the flight of the Hindus is want of organisation among themselves. As long as this is not set right, no solution is possible. Hindus will continue to undergo such travails at one place or the other. This is the only way, the only positive and enduring way of national resurrection. And this is what Sangh is doing".
Netaji Subas Chandra Bose And Savarkar And RSS
Before founding RSS Doctorji met Netaji in the Kollkatta Municipality office. Listening all, he extended his scheduled time to Doctorji. He said that it was the only way out to save the country. Subash also said to him that he was interested but failed to Join to his organization because of his political identity.
Before his departure to Germany, he had gone to RSS Headquarters at Nagpur but Doctorji was in Coma. After that day, Doctorji passed away on 21st June 1940, at 9.27 A. M.
Dr. Sadashiv Golwalkar was the 2nd Sara sanga chalak of RSS. Doctorji heard his name while in Benaras that one Sadashiv of Nagpur was a professor at Hindu university. Doctorji during his visit to Kasi wanted to meet Him but failed. One day he met him on the way of Nagapur without knowing him personally. It was a great day for the Hindu society. Seeing a stranger on the road at Nagpur, Doctorji asked him, "Are you not Sadashiv Golwalkar? Thus this great soul comes together.
Swami Akhandananda was the Spiritual Guru of Sadashiv Golwalkar. Swamiji was the Guru brother of Swami Vivekananda and a direct disciple of Ramkrishna. For two years, Sadashib was in the Sargachi Ashram. He renders all types of services to the Guru Akhandananda. One day, Swami Akhandananda asked Him," I would talk to Ramkrishna at night through meditation". The next day he delivered Mantra to Sadashiv. Sadashiv wanted to join Ramakrishna Mission but Swami Akhandananda asked him to join RSS and to work with Headgear. It was the instructions of Guru.
Sadashiv was called "Guruji "by the student of Banaras Hindu University. After the death of Headgewar, he became the Sarasanghchalak of RSS. He expanded Sangh from a provincial city to town to villages. He started Vivida Khestra.
Once Hiranmoy Mukherji, a great parliamentarian was in train. He noticed the arrival of Guruji in the same Compartment. Guruji began to start reading. He was reading one of the books of Dickens. Seeing it, he became happy. In a Conversation with Guruji, he asked," What is the basis of RSS? Guruji answered that intense love is our basis. Guruji asked,' What is the basis of the communist party? Hiranmoy Mukherji answered that our basis is hatred.
Relevant actionable suggestions are acceptable in the organisation. Reasonable tolerance and love are the basis of RSS. Generating leadership, RSS is making Bharat a strong Bharat. RSS is transforming Hindu life into an organised life to establish peace and harmony while disregarding all conflict. The organisation promotes oneness in Hindu society. Ignoring thousands of obstacles, Hindu society is becoming an organised society considering the tolerant and nonviolent character of the society.
